While preparing for the Scrap It class, I have been thinking a lot lately about Scrapbooking and why I love it so much. There is nothing better than browsing through your pictures, picking out paper and embellishments, coming up with a title and theme, and getting that memory down on paper. I do it to capture the memories..to tuck them away in a book that can be taken off the shelf and browsed at any time of the day or night. I can't tell you how good it does my heart to thumb through those memories and remember some of the greatest moments of my life. I can look at the lay-outs of Carley and Gavin's births and still feel the nervousness and excitement I felt going into the hospital to bring them into the world. Just this past Tuesday, my dad's birthday, I pulled his book off the shelf and looked through it. It brings him closer somehow and eases the pain of missing him just a little bit. What really makes my heart swell is when Carley and Gavin bring their books to me and ask me to tell their them their story!! We have spent hours looking through the pages while I told them funny stories of their baby and toddler years and recalled proud moments of their school days and other accomplishments. It's about having such easy access to those moments, not only for me but for my loved ones. So many memories fill those pages; the day Jason and I got married, my dance company days, birthdays, Christmases, vacations, outings with friends, special moments for my niece and nephews. Now I get to look forward to those pages of my niece Savannah and my new great niece or nephew to be. There is absolutely nothing like it. Now God has opened the door for me to teach in my community. First in Winfield, next in Hackleburg, and I'm currently looking for a spot in Hamilton. I am humbled by the opportunity to introduce others to the world of scrapbooking! I am thankful to those that are taking this journey with me. I am also very thankful to those who have believed in my work and gave me the opportunity to design for them...Scrapbooker's Clubhouse, Paper Popsicles, Paper Piecing Artist Guild, Creatively Yours Sketches, and For the Luv of Art. There are days I compare myself to other great scrapbookers on the net and fail miserably. I may never be a part of the "in" crowd of scrapbookers and while I have spent countless hours trying, I'm okay with that. That's not what is important. What is important to me is getting my family memories recorded and sharing this great hobby with others. I don't want to ever lose sight of that. So anyway, that is part of what has been on my heart lately. I'm looking forward to the Scrap It class next Saturday. If you haven't signed up yet, please do. It'll be good to gather with friends for a morning a scrapbooking fun. We all need girl time, right?? I hope this builds into a monthly gig where we can get together and create til our heart's content. I hope to see you there!! Last week was my week to share on the For the Luv of Art blog. Just in case you missed my posts last week, I wanted to share my projects with you here. For the Luv of Art is a community that is growing. I would love it if you would join me there. It's a great group of ladies and no shortage of inspiration. So head on over and register, they, along with myself, are waiting to welcome you!! Here are my FTLOA DT projects...First up is Jason and I at Carley's dance recital this passed May.

We are back from our vacation to Savannah, Georgia and Tybee Island. Jason and I have always wanted to go, so to say we were super excited about this trip is an understatement. We arrived after 3 pm and got checked in to our hotel. Then, we headed down to the Riverwalk to look around and enjoyed some awesome Greek food at the Olympia Cafe. We were all pretty tired so, after a quick trip to Wal-Mart, we headed back to the hotel to let the kids swim. We got up and had breakfast Tuesday morning and headed to Tybee Island, which looked like a little piece of paradise on Earth. Our first stop was to see the lighthouse.
After a quick lunch at Arby's, we headed for the beach. It was absolutely beautiful. I was so glad the entrance allowed Jason to go up to the sand, so we could all sit together. Here we are on the beach...
