My Carley turned 10 yesterday!! She is literally growing up before my very eyes. She hasn't wasted a second reminding me that she is FINALLY in the double digits now. It makes me sad but excited to see the wonderful young lady she is becoming. She is so different from me and teaches me so much every single day!! Like her great sense of style..I admit to borrowing her feather earrings. How she is always so brave when it comes to things she wants to participate in...not wanting "all eyes on me" I would've have never participated in a beauty pageant. She doesn't even care if she doesn't win but I take it personal that they didn't see just how wonderful and beautiful she is. I live for the moments of singing to the top of our lungs in the car or snuggling up just talking. My favorite part of movie night is when Carley replays all of her favorite parts in that animated way that only she possesses. The sweetest words I've ever heard are "I love you, Mommy!" coming from my beautiful baby girl!! My heart beams with pride when I look at this beautiful, bright, animated young lady that I helped create. I am so honored that God chose me to be her mommy!! Happy Birthday Carley Nevaeh!! Me, Daddy, and Gavin love you so much!!!

Dismal Canyons
Last Saturday, Carley, Nana and I took a trip with the Girl Scouts to Dismal Canyons in Phil Campbell, Alabama. It is amazing to me that we have such a beautiful place like this so close to home. We spent 2 and a half hours hiking in the canyons taking in the beautiful waterfalls, streams, bridges and caves. It was just gorgeous. It was amazing how the temps would change from warm in one spot to cool in another, depending on where you were. We even saw our share of snakes. Poor Lisa, one the GS parents almost stepped on one crossing the creek!! After our hike, we took a break on the patio out behind the store for lunch. We took off our socks and shoes to dry out and talk while the girls played and had a good time. At 7:30, our fearless leader, Melanie (who is also a GS parent and works for Dismal Canyon) took us a night tour to see the Dismalites. Dismalites are little worms that when their heads and tails a-line, they give off light. They bed in the moss on the side of the canyons and when they are lit, they look like little stars sprinkled everywhere. It is absolutely gorgeous. They are only know to be 3 places in the world, Japan, New Zealand, and Phil Campbell, Alabama!! Many believe that Jesse James and Rub Burrow hid out there from writings they found describing the "stars" that were spread over the canyons at night. How cool is that?! If you have never been, I highly recommend that you check it out. You will absolutely love it!!
Here are some pics from our trip:
This is Carley, all ready for her hike!

Sketch #9-12
The new sketch is up at Creatively Yours Sketches
Here is the new sketch by Ms. Ali...

And here is my take!!!

I apologize for the bad lighting in the photo. When I was trying to take pics and upload, my camera had dead batteries, so I had to take it with my cell phone. Then, my yahoo e-mail wouldn't attach my photo to send to Ali! It was just one of those days. But, we made it!! Sunday evening, Carley was at a Girl Scouts 100 year celebration, so Jason and I took Gavin to lunch and to Bedford Park to feed the ducks. This is one of our favorite places in town. The ducks are always so friendly. They will meet you at your car to see what food you brought them to eat. Today, Gavin had chicken fingers. The big white duck would take the chicken from Gavin's hands, nipping his finger in the process. Gavin wasn't so sure he liked that so he started throwing the chicken at them. He had so much fun!! We didn't get to stay long but we are planning to go back and have a picnic in a few days.
I hope you liked the sketch!! Head on over to Creatively Yours and see the other lay-outs. You won't be disappointed. Ali and the team are AWESOME and so inspiring!!
Until next time....

I absolutely love Fridays...not only is it my last work day before the weekend but it's the day the new sketches go up at Creatively Yours. Here is my take on Sketch #8:12:

All items used in my lay-out are from Noel Mignon's Homespun Kit. I believe this is my absolute favorite kit, but I say that every month, don't I?!
I want to invite you to come on over to Creatively Yours and give this fabulous sketch, by the fabulous Ali, a try!! You will absolutely love it there. Until then...

Creatively Yours Sketch #7-12

The new sketch, created by the fabulous Ann, is up at Creatively Yours I had a lot of fun with this one. I loved that this was a simple sketch, which left room for us to add to it as much as we wanted. I flipped the sketch to make it work better with the three photos I wanted to add.

This lay-out is of Carley's baton clinic she was invited to participate in. She learned a routine and performed for us when we went to pick them up at the end of the day. She also got to see an Auburn and Alabama majorette in action, which was really cool. Of course, she wanted to get her picture taken with the Auburn majorette. It was a really fun day.

I want to invite you to come on over to Creatively Yours and participate in the sketch!! Each DT member takes the time to view your lay-out and comment. That is something I really love about CY and everyone loves comments, right?? I know I do!! I'll be looking for you!!! Until next time...
