Sketch 23-12 is up at Creatively Yours Sketches
For this week, I decided to break into my Halloween kit from Noel Mignon and get last years Halloween pictures scrapped. Can you tell I'm ready for Fall? Well, I am and it can't get here quick enough for me!! This is Carley, Gavin, and Matthew getting ready for Trick or Treating on Lovers Lane. We have always trick or treated on Lovers Lane since my sister lived there for years, but this was our first year actually living there during Halloween. The street becomes almost magical, with little kids in costume running everywhere with their little buckets knocking on doors. We had three huge buckets of candy and still ran out before everyone was finished for the night. We really broke Jason in good since he's used to avoiding the trick or treating crowds on Halloween. We all had a great time though, including Jason!!
Head on over to Creatively Yours and share with us your take on the sketch!! Until next time...

While preparing for the Scrap It class, I have been thinking a lot lately about Scrapbooking and why I love it so much. There is nothing better than browsing through your pictures, picking out paper and embellishments, coming up with a title and theme, and getting that memory down on paper. I do it to capture the memories..to tuck them away in a book that can be taken off the shelf and browsed at any time of the day or night. I can't tell you how good it does my heart to thumb through those memories and remember some of the greatest moments of my life. I can look at the lay-outs of Carley and Gavin's births and still feel the nervousness and excitement I felt going into the hospital to bring them into the world. Just this past Tuesday, my dad's birthday, I pulled his book off the shelf and looked through it. It brings him closer somehow and eases the pain of missing him just a little bit. What really makes my heart swell is when Carley and Gavin bring their books to me and ask me to tell their them their story!! We have spent hours looking through the pages while I told them funny stories of their baby and toddler years and recalled proud moments of their school days and other accomplishments. It's about having such easy access to those moments, not only for me but for my loved ones. So many memories fill those pages; the day Jason and I got married, my dance company days, birthdays, Christmases, vacations, outings with friends, special moments for my niece and nephews. Now I get to look forward to those pages of my niece Savannah and my new great niece or nephew to be. There is absolutely nothing like it. Now God has opened the door for me to teach in my community. First in Winfield, next in Hackleburg, and I'm currently looking for a spot in Hamilton. I am humbled by the opportunity to introduce others to the world of scrapbooking! I am thankful to those that are taking this journey with me. I am also very thankful to those who have believed in my work and gave me the opportunity to design for them...Scrapbooker's Clubhouse, Paper Popsicles, Paper Piecing Artist Guild, Creatively Yours Sketches, and For the Luv of Art. There are days I compare myself to other great scrapbookers on the net and fail miserably. I may never be a part of the "in" crowd of scrapbookers and while I have spent countless hours trying, I'm okay with that. That's not what is important. What is important to me is getting my family memories recorded and sharing this great hobby with others. I don't want to ever lose sight of that. So anyway, that is part of what has been on my heart lately. I'm looking forward to the Scrap It class next Saturday. If you haven't signed up yet, please do. It'll be good to gather with friends for a morning a scrapbooking fun. We all need girl time, right?? I hope this builds into a monthly gig where we can get together and create til our heart's content. I hope to see you there!! Last week was my week to share on the For the Luv of Art blog. Just in case you missed my posts last week, I wanted to share my projects with you here. For the Luv of Art is a community that is growing. I would love it if you would join me there. It's a great group of ladies and no shortage of inspiration. So head on over and register, they, along with myself, are waiting to welcome you!! Here are my FTLOA DT projects...First up is Jason and I at Carley's dance recital this passed May.
This is Carley at the Chattanooga Aquarium.

Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate each and every person who takes time out of their day to see what I've been up to. Until next time....

We are hoping to plan another trip before long, since the kids keep asking to go back. I am working hard to get caught up on last Summer's pictures so I can start on all those Savannah ones I uploaded this week!! Thanks for visiting me today!!

We are back from our vacation to Savannah, Georgia and Tybee Island. Jason and I have always wanted to go, so to say we were super excited about this trip is an understatement. We arrived after 3 pm and got checked in to our hotel. Then, we headed down to the Riverwalk to look around and enjoyed some awesome Greek food at the Olympia Cafe. We were all pretty tired so, after a quick trip to Wal-Mart, we headed back to the hotel to let the kids swim. We got up and had breakfast Tuesday morning and headed to Tybee Island, which looked like a little piece of paradise on Earth. Our first stop was to see the lighthouse.
After a quick lunch at Arby's, we headed for the beach. It was absolutely beautiful. I was so glad the entrance allowed Jason to go up to the sand, so we could all sit together.
Here we are on the beach...
I couldn't resist a pic of Carley and Gavin on the driftwood. This is Gavin's "I'm hot and ready to get under the air conditioning" face.
They enjoyed running from the waves. You could hear their squeals all the way up the beach. They were having so much fun! I love this photo of Carley!! When she feels, she feels all over and you can tell how happy she is in this picture!
Austin and Jason decided to compare their muscles!! I think Jason has him beat. Don't you?
Here's GMAN walking from the water to go sit on his towel.
After our beach trip, we headed back to the hotel. Cindy kept the kids for us, so Jason and I went to eat at Uncle Bubba's. To say it was great food would be an understatement. The back area of the restaurant was by the water. It was so pretty back there. I could've sat there the rest of the night. We decided to head to downtown Savannah on Wednesday. Carley was so excited to see the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace and the Girl Scout Headquarters, where Mrs. Low lived the remainder of her life. Unfortunately, it was a holiday and both houses were closed. Carley was pretty upset but I told her that would give us an excuse to come back sometime. This is Carley and Gavin in front of the Birthplace
and in front of the Andrew Low house where the Girl Scout Headquarters are located.
We then headed to Forsyth Park to see the fountain. It was absolutely beautiful, with the moss trees hanging over the walk leading to the biggest fountain I had ever seen in my life. Here we are in front of the fountain:
After the park, we headed down to the Riverwalk. We walked up and down the street and took in all the shops and restaurants. We had lunch at Mr. Huey's. There was a gentleman playing sax under the over pass. I could've swore it was the radio playing over the loud speaker, but there he was in the flesh playing the most beautiful sax music. He stopped to play the Umpa Lumpa song from Willy Wonka, when Gavin walked by. Gavin just smiled!! It's a huge accomplishment to get Gavin to smile when he's hot and tired!! This is the bridge, going into South Carolina. Jason found the end of it so we could cross it, cause that's just what we do!:) Jason is known for taking roads (or bridges) just to see where they go. The view of Savannah from the bridge was well worth it.
These are riverboats docked right next to the Riverwalk. On our next trip, we are going to take one of the cruises. Can you tell I already have our next trip planned out?
There is so much more I could share but you'd be here the rest of the night, so I won't keep you. If you made it this far, thanks for sticking with me to hear about our vacation. I know, without a doubt, that we will return to Savannah again. It is one of my favorite vacation spots by far. Thanks for stopping by!! I'll see you tomorrow with a post on what I've been creating this week!! Until then...

Thank you for taking them for ice cream, for tucking them in at night, for reading Carley princess stories, for "teaching' Gavin to play guitar, for babysitting while I'm at work, for taking them to karate and dance, for sitting through kid's movies on family night, and eating McDonald's when it's Gavin's turn to pick the food, for tolerating Mr. Mistoffalee's when he sits on the hood of your newly painted Nova cause you know Carley loves him so much, for disposing of all the dead animals Carley tries to save, for racing cars with Gavin, for combing his hair and washing his face, and telling Carley she's pretty, for joking with them and laughing with them, and teaching them what's right, and most of all being an example that loves Jesus. Not only are you a godsend to me, but you are a godsend to them, too. Thank you for all that you do!! We love you, Daddy!! Happy Father's Day!!!
I've had so much fun this week creating for my FTLOA DT Project reveal for the month of June!! This LO is from Carley's dance recital in May. Some of my projects for the week were for Father's Day. I snapped this picture while we were at the aquarium last Summer. I absolutely love it!! It found a place on our fireplace mantel in the living room. When I saw this old truck, I knew I had to create a Father's Day card for Jason. I hope he doesn't see this before Sunday!! This is another new favorite of mine. I created it using a Gretchen McElveen sketch for a crop at Noel Mignon. I'm so tickled that I've gotten quiet a few wedding pictures scrapped the this kit. That concludes my projects for this week!! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Happy Mother's Day I have been blessed in my life to have not one...not two...but three Moms to celebrate this Mother's Day. Here we are with all three at our wedding:
To my God Given Mom (in the middle), I thank God every day that He made you my mom. Thank you for raising me, Sherry, Melinda, and Cindy to be close and to take care of each other. Thank you for always putting us first, even now...although we are ALL okay and it's time to start worrying about yourself for a change. Thank you for teaching us to love our enemy and reminding us that God loves them, too. Thank you for your sacrifice, even through the hardest of times, you were the ray of light offering us wisdom and showing us what unconditional love is all about. Thank you for wanting to protect us and fix our problems and for always being there when we need you and even when we think we don't. Thank you for sticking up for your Grandchildren even when they NEED to be in trouble because you love them so much you hate to see them punished for anything. Thank you for working with me every day...most days even working harder than I do to take care of these babies we are blessed to keep. Thank you, Mom!! I could never tell you enough how much you mean to me, how lost I would be without you, how blessed I am to have you, and I much I truly, deeply love you!!! To my Momma-in-Love (on the right), Thank you for raising the man of my dreams that I would one day marry. Thank you for pouring into him a love for God that is like no other. Thank you for raising him to love God, to be the head of his household, and to be the Godly example we all need. Thank you for showing him how to love...first of all me...and second, Carley and Gavin. Not only is Jason a God-send to me, but he is a God-send to them as well. Thank you for teaching him what it means to have honesty, loyalty and integrity and the desire to always strive to live right and be right. Thank you for accepting me and Carley and Gavin into your heart and for always being there for us when we need you. Thank you for cleaning my kitchen when you stay the night, even though you know you don't have to do that!! But, I do appreciate it and I appreciate you!! I am so blessed to have you as my Momma-in-Love. I couldn't have prayed for a better one. I love you!! To my Mama Brenda (on the left): I know sometimes it's hard when you are a part of a blended family. I know we have been through a lot but I am thankful for where we are now. I love the fact that I can have you and Mom together in one place, whether it's for holidays of birthday parties and knowing that what differences that were had in the past are gone. I know people look at us crazy when they see a Mother and a Step-mother together in harmony...but that is what family and forgiveness is about. I am thankful that we can be that testimony of what forgiveness is and all come together and be a family. Thank you for always being there with a gentle ear and big heart. Thank you for loving Daddy and for being a wonderful Maw Maw to my babies. We love you!! I think being a Mother is one of the hardest jobs on Earth and the most rewarding. I also believe it is one of the highest callings given by God. It's an important job to raise our babies to love the Lord, to be mentally secure and sound, and to help them because successful adults. It is our job to pray for our families, to heal wounds and kiss boo boo's, to give hugs and encouragement, and to be there with open arms while raising our kids to be independent. It's hard to sit and let your children learn from their mistakes while your heart aches to fix it for them. It's also hard to be the glue the holds the family together. Sometimes we feel that we may have been forgotten and it's easy to get discouraged when you are fulfilling a calling like we as mother's have, but God sees everything that we do and He is always there. Sometimes I can't help but ask God what made Him think I could do this. It's because He knows we can. He has faith in us to be all that we need to be for our children and our families. I thank Him every day for His blessings and for giving me two of my most precious gifts, Carley and Gavin. So to all the mother's out there, today is your day!!! A day to celebrate all that God has blessed you with and the calling that God has placed on your life. Happy Mother's Day!!!

Wow...it's been a month...

I can't believe it has been a month since I last updated. It has been so busy, not to mention the sickness that took us 3 weeks to get over. Thank goodness, we are all well and back to our normal every day!! I wanted to share a few pics from Carley's Birthday Party the end of March. Gavin had accidentally deleted the pictures off my camera. I was just sick...I just knew they were gone forever. Thank goodness, a Dear Friend from church, had a program that would recover them off the SD card. Thank you, Tamara!!! I am forever greatful! Here is her cake that her Papa Terry made her. Her party theme was a Luau and she loves Monster High.
Her flip flop pinata..
Yes, she is crazy about Justin Bieber!!
Here's G-Man being silly!!
Last, but not least, her and Myli Scott with her cake.
We all had a great time. Most importantly, Carley had a wonderful party!! Thanks for stopping by to visit! I'll be back tomorrow with a new Creatively Yours Sketch!!

Friday, April 6, 2012

It's Friday!! The new sketch and interpretations are up at Creatively Yours.
Here is Sketch #11-12:

Here is my interpretation of the sketch:

These photos were taken March 29th on Carley's 10th birthday. Jason had brought them by Nana's for a few minutes at nap-time. I took these photos in the car. She had already gotten all dressed up for her birthday dinner at Logan's Roadhouse. She looked so pretty and she was incredibly happy and excited for her day!! I have issued a Spring Inspiration Challenge on the boards of For the Luv of Art. Here are the photos I posted as inspiration for Pinterest. You have until midnight, Sunday the 8th, to upload your project using the photos as your inspiration. Everyone who uploads a project in the Spring Inspiration thread in the FTLOA Forum will the entered into a drawing for a $10 GC to the FTLOA store. How cool is that?!

This LO was also created for the Scrapping the Music Challenge. I took the word Time from the song lyrics. If you haven't stopped by Scrapping the Music lately, you need to head on over and read about their new challenge format. All items used for the lay-out were from Noel Mignon's Primrose Lane Kit. I hope you will take them time to stop by all of the sites I listed in today's post. I promise you that there will be no shortage of friendship from other fabulous ladies that love scrapbooking as much as you do and the inspiration you will receive is some of the best on the web!!
